The United Kingdom (UK) now applies customs checks to almost every shipment entering the country. Every package — big or small — must go through customs clearance. This means you should expect that duties and taxes may apply to your shipment.
Customs requires that all packages clearly show the sender and receiver details.
The receiver may be asked to show proof of purchase (like an online order receipt). So if you have it, simply add it to the package documents prior to shipping.
The declared value must match the actual cost of goods on the receipt.
Shipments may be delayed if information on your invoice doesn’t match the items inside.
Certain goods (like food or cosmetics) must meet UK and EU health or safety rules.
See the What Can Be Shipped Abroad Guide for the full list.
