What Can be Shipped on Routely?

Overview

With Routely, you can ship almost anything, anywhere — locally within Nigeria or internationally — as long as the item is not contraband, dangerous, perishable, or prohibited.

When shipping internationally, some items may not be allowed due to safety, legal, or customs rules. These rules are set by international shipping laws and by authorities in each destination country.

Generally Acceptable Items

Most everyday items are allowed for shipping. These include:

  • Fashion items

  • Clothes and shoes

  • Books and documents

  • Gifts and personal effects

  • Gadgets and electronics

  • Documents

  • Properly processed, sealed, and packaged well dried food items

  • Local snacks and herbal products (when well-dried and packaged)

If an item is dry, safe, legal, and properly packaged, it is usually acceptable.

Common Items That Are ACCEPTABLE (Not Prohibited)

Below is a list of some items that can be shipped on Routely:

  • Grinded melon (Egusi)

  • Grinded Irvingia (Ogbono)

  • Polished rice only

  • Peeled and grinded beans

  • Dried snail

  • Seasoning in powder form

  • Suya spice

  • Dried vegetables

  • Grinded crayfish or prawn

  • Frames

  • Grinded dried corn flour

  • Yam flour (Elubo)

  • Cassava flour (Garri)

  • Dried cassava flakes

  • Tapioca (dried)

  • Pasta

  • Custard, tea, cornflakes (no milk products)

  • Personal and household effects (e.g. clothes)

  • Dried ground herbs

  • Well-dried and well-packaged fish and crayfish

  • Oil-based perfume

Restricted or Prohibited Items

Some items are restricted (may ship only via cargo) or completely prohibited due to safety, legal, or airline rules.

Examples of Restricted or Prohibited Items

These items cannot be shipped, or may only ship via cargo where stated:

  • Meat and meat products (e.g. ponmo)

  • Palm oil (cargo only, not express)

  • Fresh vegetables or fruits

  • Wet or frozen foods

  • Honey (cargo only, not express)

  • Any flammable item

  • Alcohol-based perfumes, sprays, roll-ons

  • Real gold or precious stones

  • Cosmetics with bleaching ingredients

  • Camphor

  • Rat poison or any poison

  • Insecticides and pesticides

  • Fake or counterfeit designer items

  • Money or legal tender

  • Hard drugs or any contraband

  • Medication (Even with a doctor’s prescription)

Any other controlled or prohibited item is not allowed.

Depending on the country you are shipping to or from, there may be extra rules or clearance requirements, especially for:
